Thank You 2013, Hello 2014

Thank you all so much for your support of Take Back the Night 2013. Your excitement and (if you were there) presence are why our event continues to grow and evolve! We are extremely pleased about this years event, and are already brainstorming about 2014!

One thing we learned from this year is that we must approve all musical selection in advance. During our event, a guest performer used Robin Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines” without our pre-approval. This highly critiqued song celebrates and promotes the rape-supportive culture we are trying so hard to change with Women Take Back the Night, and we apologize to attendees of the event for not being more proactive by establishing clear expectations with our guest performers.

We hope to see you next year!

Meet our 2013 Cast

One Billion Rising

Join us on February 14, 2013 as we participate in a global strike to demand an end to violence.  We will gather on the west steps of the California State Capitol in Sacramento to RISE UP and DEMAND an end to violence against women! We are calling on women and those who love them to participate in an event that uses dance as a protest to end violence. Because One Billion violated is an atrocity, but One Billion dancing is a REVOLUTION!

The event will take place across the planet, when ONE BILLION women and those who love them walk out, dance, rise up and demand an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country.
